The Post: 
We are looking to permanently appoint Public Health Intelligence Principals in our Public Health Science and Analytics service. These are permanent posts that will form part of the service senior management team, leading the Evidence and Evaluation functions within the Population Health and Wellbeing Directorate. The Public Health Science and Analytics functions identify effective interventions and policies, undertake and commission complex evaluations, and provide intelligence on population health to effect change to reduce health inequalities and improve healthy life expectancy. 

With a focus on both influencing national policy and legislation and providing the evidence and intelligence to enable change across local systems, these are key roles in helping Scotland achieve its vision of a country where everyone thrives.

The Candidate:
The post-holder should have knowledge in public health acquired through a Masters level qualification in Public Health or other related subject, or equivalent experience. With

a strong Public Health background, with senior leadership and management experience at a national level. A proven track record in conducting applied public health or social research using a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods. Significant experience in gathering, analysing, interpreting and presenting extensive and/or complex qualitative and quantitative data and information effectively and clearly.

The post will report directly to the Head of Service for Public Health Science and Analytics.

Location and Working Pattern:
Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Central Quay, Glasgow.

Please note that PHS will be relocating from Central Quay, Glasgow to Bothwell Street, Glasgow in September 2024.

Currently hybrid working.

Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week however PHS supports flexible working and we are happy to discuss requests for alternative working patterns.

During times of public health emergency, or other urgent business need, you may be required on a temporary basis to work your normal contracted working hours over 7 days including weekends, in order to meet the needs of the service.

It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with PHS.
