Payroll Manager

Location: Marshall Head Office – Cambridge

Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum, depending on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week, working Monday to Friday

The Role

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the accurate delivery of the monthly payroll for circa 5000 colleagues and is responsible for the administration of both taxable and non-taxable benefits.

The Payroll Manager has four direct reports, who oversee both the Payroll and Colleague Benefits Teams and their responsibilities. The role works closely with the HR Management Team in the delivery of projects and ad-hoc tasks.

You will be a key stakeholder in the business and support the other key stakeholders throughout the group as and when required.

What will I do?

Management of four direct reports, three with reporting lines Responsible for leading a total of ten team members across both Payroll and Colleague Benefits teams Managing ad-hoc projects as and when required Ensuring all HMRC reporting requirements are met Responsible for accurate delivery of annual P11d exercise and quarterly P46 (car) Accurate and on-time delivery of the monthly payroll of circa 5000 colleagues (end-to-end) Supporting the production and posting of the Nominal Ledger payroll accounts Ensuring compliance with all legislation that affects payroll and benefit processing Ensuring all Payroll and Benefits processes and procedures are up to date and compliant Maintaining professional and systems knowledge Payroll reporting internally, including KPI’s Keeping accurate and up-to-date employee records in accordance with HMRC and GDPR requirements Act as a point of contact to resolve escalated colleague queries Support AX system admin and query resolution Ensuring Auto-Enrolment requirements are met Ensuring accurate deduction and payments to third parties, including pension

What do I need?

Previous experience of delivering end-to-end P11d process is desirable Confident managing a large payroll of 2,000+ in a multi-site environment People management skills Knowledge of Midlands HR iTrent payroll system beneficial Previous experience managing projects is desirable Proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel – Advanced Level CIPP qualification advantageous (or similar payroll qualification) Strong listening and communication skills both verbally and in writing Problem solving Experience of working in a fast-paced environment Good experience in building and sustaining effective relationships remotely at all levels Proven organisational, time management and efficient administration skills Ability to prioritise work effectively and manage multiple priorities
