Here is an exciting opportunity for you to join our Pharmacy team as a Outsourced Outpatient Pharmacy Technician.

You will support the Outsourced Outpatient Pharmacy Service Manager. You will need to provide a cost effective and efficient medicines management service to wards and patient, to participate in staff training, spend a proportion of your day within dispensary services

You will provide a clinical ward based service, and final accuracy checking as an ACT.

Main duties of the job

To support the project management of the transition period of outpatient dispensing to the outsourced service provider. To be a point of contact for, and maintain a close working relationship with, the outsourced service manager and staff. To support the development of the outsourced outpatient pharmacy service. To attend monthly operational meetings for the outsourced outpatient pharmacy service as needed. This could involve minute taking. To run and review Boots' financial reports and report any inconsistencies to the outsourced outpatient pharmacy service manager as required. To help collect, enter, and maintain all data for the Boots spreadsheets for finances, KPI's, Incidences, Etc. To support with the end of month reporting processes. To support with creation of a quarterly update of the service for submission to Pharmacy Management Team and Pharmacy board meetings.

To ensure that accurate detailed level 1 medicines reconciliation is taken by communicating with GPs, community pharmacies and other care organisations at the time of admission (wherever possible). Communicate drug or medicine related information to patients, relatives, and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Assess electronic/paper drug charts and escalate any issues to the ward Pharmacist. Communicate with ward staff to ensure timely supply of medicines. Transcribe clinically screened items to order. To participate in discharge planning with patients, ward staff and other healthcare professionals in secondary and primary care to ensure timely discharge and seamless care post discharge. Provide advice to patients in written or verbal format to encourage compliance. To assess the suitability of patients own medicines for continued use during their hospital stay. Responsible for the ordering of medicines to the wards under their responsibility, adhering to formulary. To ensure ward handover to covering Technician in absence Review prescriptions, dispense and safely supply drugs to patients, ensuring all pertinent information is entered into the departments pharmacy stock control system. Perform final accuracy check on dispensed products following completion of the ACT scheme. Contribute to the maintenance of good stock control within the dispensary.
