About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Account Director to lead critical digital services contracts and manage key public sector accounts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital transformation, working collaboratively across all skill sets, digital publishing, cloud-services experience, exceptional client management skills, and a deep understanding of the public sector digital landscape, GDS principles, and the government’s Technology Code of Practice in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management:

Serve as the primary point of contact for public sector clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and engagement and be able to engage technically with a high level of understanding of public sector digital and service design principles and best practices. Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with stakeholders at various levels of government and public sector organizations. Understand clients’ needs, technical requirements, challenges, and objectives to provide strategic digital solutions that deliver measurable outcomes.

Strategic Account Management:

Develop and channel digital thought leadership and execute business and account plans to drive client success and achieve revenue targets. Identify opportunities for account growth and new business development within the public sector. Collaborate with internal teams to develop tailored digital strategies and solutions that align with clients’ digital transformation goals.

Project Oversight and Delivery:

Oversee the delivery of digital products and projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Coordinate with project managers, solution architects, service designers, and other team members to ensure seamless execution of digital initiatives. Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to clients, addressing any issues or concerns promptly.

Leadership and Team Management:

Reporting to the Business Director and with two direct reports, lead and mentor this team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering skill development and career advancement. Promote a culture of excellence, aligned to the Government Services Design Manual and the Government Technology Code of Practice, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.

Financial Management:

Accountability for revenue and margin targets. Manage account budgets and ensure all financial targets are met. Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and analysis to senior management and clients. Ensure cost savings and efficiencies across accounts.

Market Insight and Advocacy:

Stay informed about the latest trends and developments in digital services and the public sector. Advocate for the adoption of innovative digital solutions within the public sector. Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings, enhancing our visibility and reputation.
 

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Information Technology, or a related field. An MBA or equivalent is an advantage but not essential.

Experience:

Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in account management, delivering digital services to the public sector. Proven track record of managing large, complex accounts and delivering successful digital transformation projects. Experience working with government agencies and public sector organizations in the UK is highly desirable.

Skills:

Strong understanding of digital technologies and their application in the public sector. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and capitalize on business opportunities. Strong leadership and team management skills. Financial acumen and experience managing budgets and financial performance.
