Cambridge, United Kingdom Rentokil Initial Full time

Rentokil Property Care

Apprentice Technician

Permanent, full-time role, Monday to Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

Location - Working from our Lincoln branch

Basic salary of £13,770 with opportunities to make bonus after the 1st year

Potential of working all over England dependent on workload and staying away from home

Ready to Make a Move? Let Us Help - If you're living more than 2 hours away from this role's location and gearing up or willing to settle into a nearby permanent residence, we may be able to offer you a relocation package. You could receive up to £5,000, tailored to your specific needs.

Peter Cox, Rentokil Property Care Limited, and Wise Property Services, are part of the Rentokil Initial group. We are the UK's leaders in damp proofing, waterproofing, timber preservation, and wall stabilisation. Recently, we ranked #24 in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Awards 2022, and were recognized as Glassdoor's Best Place to Work in 2020 and Indeed's Top Rated Workplace in 2019.

We offer top-tier property preservation services across the UK, adhering to the highest health and safety standards. As a government-accredited learning organisation, we provide exceptional training and development opportunities, ensuring our employees become experts in their field. With numerous internal courses available, you'll have the chance to expand your skills and prepare for managerial roles, as we strongly believe in promoting from within. Many of our managers started as technicians.

What the apprenticeship looks like;

0-12 months: In your first year, you'll work with a mentor to learn the skills needed to become a top Property Services Technician. You'll join our Internal Customer Services Apprenticeship Scheme to develop essential people skills. After completing the apprenticeship and obtaining your driving licence, you will be given the chance to be promoted to a full Technician role.

12-36 months: After completing the Customer Service Apprenticeship and obtaining your driving licence, you'll work as a full Technician. Once you meet our standards and can work independently, you'll be assessed by an external body. If you pass, you'll earn an NVQ in joinery or plastering, based on business needs and your preference.

The role of an Apprentice Technician

As an Apprentice Technician, you’ll be servicing our customers across the Midlands area. Travel further afield may also be required, subject to workload.

What will you be doing?

  • You will strip and replace timber floors, door frames, architraves, windows and doors
  • You will be required for the removal of plaster, prior to installing damp proof courses
  • You will be required to carry out timber treatments such as woodworm sprays and fungal decay work
  • There may be an element of patch plastering involved in this role
  • Our specialist technicians also carry out basement waterproofing work, and structural defects repairs, such as wall tie installation and crack-stitching

Requirements

We would love you to have:

  • A can-do attitude, and able to use your own initiative in tricky situations
  • Great communication and customer service skills with a keen, enthusiastic and friendly approach
  • Passionate about delivering a world class service to our customers
  • Willingness to work in a practical role where you will “get your hands dirty”
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces

Although we do not need you to have a UK driving licence for this role, we will expect you to gain your licence within the first 12 months of your employment with us or this can restrict grading moving forward.

Benefits

  • A competitive starting apprentice salary package of £13,770
  • Grading promotions that increase your basic salary based on your performance
  • Benefits such as access to friends and family discount scheme called RI Rewards where you could earn discounts in over 3000 retailers
  • The opportunity to work within a diverse, fast-paced, and growing company
  • Option to contribute into a private healthcare plan
