Job summary

Stapenhill Medical Centre are recruiting a General Practice Assistant. This permanent position is for 25 hours per week.

A GPA will support the GP's smooth running of clinics by performing the more routine administrative tasks on behalf of the GP, freeing up their time to focus on the patient.

Main duties of the job

Sorting all clinical post and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions. Signposting some post to others such as clinical pharmacist etc. Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes. Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments of patients. Any other duties required by management or GP Partners.

About us

We are a highly productive Practice always looking to provide excellent care and new services to our patients.

We currently have three full-time Partners, assisted by three employed GP's, two Pharmacists, one Advanced Nurse Practitioner, two Practice Nurses and one Healthcare Assistant.

With a patient list currently in excess of 9,500 and growing, and with the development of new services, we are seeking to recruit to address our current and future needs.

We are a friendly well established Practice with high QOF scores and a Good CQC rating.

The successful applicant will work within our team to deliver an excellent service to our patients. Good communication and organisational skills are essential. Candidates must be flexible, reliable, have the ability to multi-task and work efficiently within a busy and pressurised environment. Previous experience would be highly advantageous, however, full training will be provided. The Practice uses SystmOne Clinical System.

They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately. Communication The post-holder should recognise the importance of effective communication within the team and will strive to: Communicate effectively with other team members. Be familiar in all mediums of communications such as email, tasks, telephone etc. Communicate effectively with patients and carers. Recognise peoples needs for alternative methods of communication and respond accordingly. Communicate effectively to outside agencies.

Desirable

Experience of working within a GP Practice. Hospital or other medical environment experience. Medical terminology. Patient information systems.

Qualifications

Essential

Good general standard of education to include Maths & English qualifications. Ability to touch type. Computer literate. Good communication skills. Good telephone manner. Able to prioritise work. Keyboard and computer skills. Ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Customer care. Filing systems (paper & electronic). Works well in a team. Works well under pressure.
