About the team and the role

At Ocado the Creative Department is made up of 30 brilliantly talented people. We are now on the lookout for a Senior Brand Designer , who is passionate about design and understands how to be an excellent brand guardian.

This is an extremely exciting opportunity for the right candidate to continue shaping and developing the powerful purple Ocado and Zoom by Ocado brands.

The day-to-day role will involve working with different design / creative teams and stakeholders on key brand campaigns, while maintaining the brand's everyday assets and guidelines.

What you’ll do

Brand guardian – Ensure that all work adheres to Ocado brand guidelines. Stay up to date and immersed in the latest work coming out of the studio and business to ensure alignment on use of brand assets. As the Senior Branding Designer, you will be the Brand Guardian, manage the guidelines for Ocado and Zoom by Ocado’s guidelines. You will be the ‘go-to person’ for brand design knowledge. Brand Portal – You will be a constant powerhouse behind updating the brand portal, ensuring stakeholders and departments are fully aware of any changes to the brand. Educator – Be proactive in explaining and demonstrating how to use new brand assets to other team members and mentoring juniors. Efficiency – Seek new ways to make the team and business as a whole more efficient with brand assets including implementing central resources for guidelines, templates, brand assets for easy access. Creative vision – Push the senior teams and agencies to craft what the future of the brand will look like. The aim is to always stay ahead of the curve and keep everyone singing from the same hymn sheet. Housekeeping – Brand consistency falls to the wayside very quickly in fast paced teams, needing drive to push for systems, templates and processes to be used correctly. Brand design – Creation of sub-brands, internal brands and internal comms visuals eg logos, illustrations etc for events and initiatives Internal design – Office graphics, employee stationary etc. Manage – Able to line manage 1-2 designers and upskill and mentor their development whilst managing their everyday responsibilities when needed.


Who you are

Brand Design digital specialist – Must have a broad knowledge of design disciplines - brand, e-comm, web, CRM, Motion and print. Able to create work for the brand that can be used for multichannel campaigns and assets. Expert understanding of design theory and structure , particularly layout, type, colour, digital illustration and vector design. Brand Guidelines – Experienced creating and developing in depth brand guidelines. Portfolio – Strong portfolio showcasing brand design, typography and creative skills. Presentation skills – Present your work to colleagues and business partners using scamps, mood boards, and other presentation materials. Be able to present your ideas to the creative leadership team and business stakeholders and respond to feedback positively. Design Development – flexible design style - Scamping through to outputting digital assets. Expert image editing skills – including optimisation, isolating, resizing and retouching. Liaise with a wider team – Stakeholders and occasionally external brand partners. Usability and accessibility – Produce assets and components that are easy and intuitive for all teams and stakeholders to use and access. Must be a self starter and organised - able to independently manage projects and communicate status and willing to be proactive in making relationships with wider teams. Attention to detail – Excellent eye and understanding of how updates and changes affect the flow of brand assets and components. Conceptual ideation , everything from campaigns to theming an event and Branding campaign development. Software – Expert in Adobe; essential packages are Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign. Figma would be highly beneficial for this role.
