Main duties of the job
Anaesthetics
Work alongside the anaesthetist in caring for patients in the administration and maintenance of general, regional and local anaesthetics
Preparation of a wide range of specialist equipment such as anaesthetic machines and devices, to safely secure the patient's airway during anaesthesia and support maintenance of their cardio-vascular stability
Monitor, assess and respond to changes in the patient condition as required, evaluating care provided
Speciality specific role description:
To act as the patients advocate during the perioperative period of care
To be responsible for anticipating and providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team
To participate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintain agreed standards of care
Follow Codes of Professional Practice providing high quality and safe care to patients undergoing procedures within the Perioperative environment
Work effectivelywithin a team

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a TheatrePractitioner in the Anaestheticsand Recovery team at the West Wing Department in John Radcliffe Hospital.
The Trust/Ward/Department
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one ofthe largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range ofgeneral and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education, training,and research. The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital,Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the HortonGeneral Hospital in Banbury.
The West WingOperating Theatre Department at the John Radcliffe Hospital, is a 14-theatreunit and provides elective and emergency care for adults and children. It isone of four highly specialised craniofacial centres in the UK, one of sevenspecialist units for cleft lip & palate surgery. It is a tertiary referralcentre for neurosurgery and the unit is recognised for ground-breaking work inophthalmology surgery. Other specialities include ENT, Maxilla-Facial andchildren (general surgery & orthopaedics).

Work alongside the anaesthetist in caring forpatients in the administration and maintenance of general, regional and localanaesthetics Preparation of a wide range of specialistequipment such as anaesthetic machines and devices, to safely secure thepatient's airway during anaesthesia and support maintenance of theircardio-vascular stability Monitor, assess and respond to changes in thepatient condition as required, evaluating care provided Toact as the patients advocate during the perioperative period of care Tobe responsible for anticipating and providing skilled clinical and technicalassistance as a member of the operating theatre team Toparticipate in the assessment of patient care needs and implement and maintainagreed standards of care FollowCodes of Professional Practice providing high quality and safe care to patientsundergoing procedures within the Perioperative environment Workeffectively within a teamTobe successful in applying for this role you will need:
