Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Theatre Practitioner to join our Anaesthetics and Recovery team at the West Wing Department in John Radcliffe Hospital.
Main Duties
As a Theatre Practitioner, you will work alongside anaesthetists in caring for patients during the administration and maintenance of general, regional, and local anaesthetics.
You will be responsible for preparing a wide range of specialist equipment, such as anaesthetic machines and devices, to safely secure the patient's airway during anaesthesia and support their cardiovascular stability.
You will also monitor, assess, and respond to changes in patient condition as required, evaluating the care provided.

Job Responsibilities
As a Theatre Practitioner, you will be responsible for:
- Working alongside anaesthetists in caring for patients during the administration and maintenance of general, regional, and local anaesthetics
- Preparing a wide range of specialist equipment, such as anaesthetic machines and devices, to safely secure the patient's airway during anaesthesia and support their cardiovascular stability
- Monitoring, assessing, and responding to changes in patient condition as required, evaluating the care provided
- Acting as the patient's advocate during the perioperative period of care
- Providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team
- Participating in the assessment of patient care needs and implementing and maintaining agreed standards of care
- Following codes of professional practice to provide high-quality and safe care to patients undergoing procedures within the perioperative environment
- Working effectively within a team
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Relevant degree or equivalent
- Current relevant professional registration - HCPC/NMC
- Enhanced DBS
- UK/NHS experience
- Proficient IT knowledge and Microsoft Office skills
- Anaesthetic Practitioner
- EPR experience desirable
- Paediatric competent
