Job summary

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Physiotherapy Clinical Support Worker (CSW) to join the stroke unit physiotherapy team and support patients with their rehabilitation, helping stroke survivors to achieve their goals and regain movement and function. This is a part time role ( hours) to include working 8:30-4:30 on Saturdays, helping the team to provide increased levels of rehabilitation at a weekend in line with the updated National Stroke Guidelines.

The role is based on the inpatient Stroke Unit in Wycombe General Hospital, and is part of a well-established and supportive therapy team. The main part of this role is based on the acute stroke unit, where patients who are at least 72 hours post-stroke are transferred for ongoing early rehabilitation, care and discharge planning. This role will suit someone who is motivated, flexible and hard-working, and keen to support patients to achieve their potential in rehabilitation

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the stroke unit therapy team based in Wycombe Hospital.

To work with patients individually and alongside qualified staff, supporting patients with their rehabilitation. This may involve a range of activities, for example, carrying out exercise programs, using the hoist to sit patients out, assisting with personal care, carrying out mobility practice and balance exercises, and using therapy adjuncts such as the Motomed bike and e-stim devices.

To work closely with physiotherapy and occupational therapy colleagues, and wider multidisciplinary team members.

To record accurate notes and statistics, and to complete admin tasks as required by the team, for example, ordering equipment.

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential

Good level of education to GCSE standard. (at least 3 subjects) Level 3 GCSE or equivalent in English.

Desirable

Manual Handling, Life Saving or First Aid qualification NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare

Experience

Essential

Able to accept and undertake responsibility for designated tasks Previous work in a healthcare environment and experience of patients with Neurological conditions 6 months experience within a customer care (face to face) environment

Desirable

Previous work as a Physiotherapy/Therapy Assistant or allied profession
