Get The Future You Want

Your wellbeing
You’d be joining an accredited Great Place to work for Wellbeing in 2023. Employee wellbeing is vitally important to us as an organisation. We see a healthy and happy workforce a critical component for us to achieve our organisational ambitions.
To help support wellbeing we have trained ‘Mental Health Champions’ across each of our business areas, and we have invested in wellbeing apps such as Thrive and Peppy.

Shape your path
You will be empowered to explore, innovate, and progress. You will benefit from Capgemini’s ‘learning for life’ mindset, meaning you will have countless training and development opportunities from thinktanks to hackathons, and access to 250,000 courses with numerous external certifications from AWS, Microsoft, Harvard ManageMentor, Cybersecurity qualifications and much more.

An overview of the role:

Capgemini Invent Energy Transition and Utilities is the largest sector in our private portfolio, with a dominant brand position across all our five subsectors (Nuclear, Water, Networks, Energy Retail and Energy Transition). You will work on high profile, impactful projects which will help our clients deliver scalable energy infrastructure to help the UK transition to a low carbon, sustainable future.

As part of our ongoing growth, we are seeking an experienced senior leader who can bring experience from capital projects and/or asset intensive industry, a strong business improvement skillset, and an understanding of how the digitisation of core capital project delivery processes can reduce the total cost of ownership for mega projects and deliver on shareholder commitments. You will work in a diverse team of engineers, creative designers, business consultants, industry experts, information, and technology specialists to help lead and grow a market leading business.

The work:

No matter the project or customer, your work will have a meaningful impact on society, businesses and lives. It’s really rewarding. And it’s also really varied. You’ll potentially work on a huge variety of projects (some larger than others), so you could gain lots of experience in a short amount of time.

Why this role?

The energy sector is going through the biggest change in a generation to support the needs of a low carbon future. Organisations across the UK are investing millions in Opex and Capex improvements and operational digital transformation to deliver these commitments. Given the scale of investment and short time to deliver these capital improvements there is a very strong focus from regulators, investors, and the companies alike to increase confidence and speed to deliver these programmes to time cost and quality, safely.

As a result, we are seeing a significant increase in demand for our teams who are already working with major utilities organisations. We have built a successful track record of identifying, solutioning and then delivering leading edge enterprise-wide digital transformations which is adopted and embedded into our clients and we are looking to further strengthen our teams. Capgemini brings to bear vast energy and utilities experience, a strong business improvement skillset, business change capability, an understanding of technology and a highly collaborative approach.

As a Digital Capital Delivery Consultant in the business you’ll help set the direction, driving forward the business, model our values and behaviours, and coach and develop junior members of the team. We are looking for people who can be the critical friend and trusted partner, helping our clients understand and tackle the issues they face, defining the overall solutions to unlock value whilst steering them on the journey of transformation. The solutions align the strategic objectives with visible outcomes expected by shareholders. We bring this to life through the setup of the future organisation, new ways of working enabled by emerging technology and data.

You will help our clients design and develop solutions which digitise and optimise processes across the value chain, from engineering design through to successful commissioning and handover to asset operations. You will form part of an experienced and flexible project delivery team who have real life industry transformation experience, helping clients to realise benefits and transform processes, operations and behaviours which will lead to improved efficiency, improved customer experience and improved business outcomes.

Key expectations from this role include:

Leadership of workstream teams. Ownership and delivery of workstreams within transformation programmes.  Client stakeholder management. Definition of client strategy, delivery roadmap and investment case. You will help develop business cases for the deployment of asset technology solutions and support clients in making value-based scope decisions.  Definition of future business and organisation models whilst developing an integrated view of people, technology and information impacts.  Define project scope and objectives, facilitate workshops to define and prioritise requirements, agree outcomes and programme risks.  Create and support the development of workstream or project delivery plans.

As part of your role you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the business and your own personal growth, through activities that form part of the following categories:

Business Development – Leading/contributing to proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitch contribution, client hosting at events. Internal contribution – Campaign development, internal think-tanks, whitepapers, practice development (operations, recruitment, team events & activities), offering development. Learning & development – Training to support your career development and the skills demand within the company, certifications etc.

We’d love to meet someone with:

Proven track record in capital projects and/or asset intensive industry, including a knowledge of project management, design, manufacturing, supply chain and/or asset management processes and applications.  A strong understanding of the mechanisms for managing and controlling a large capital project (i.e. project controls, design management, configuration control, earned value management).  Experience of industry standards, e.g. BIM, and policies to help our clients develop best of breed solutions for their context. Experience of one of the leading digital engineering technology platforms, e.g. Dassault 3DX, Teamcenter, Windchill, SAP ERP, Autodesk and others.  Experience working in a consultancy or deploying internal improvement initiatives within an organisation.  Experience developing Digital Strategies that encompass organisation, information management and system design through to deploying practical scalable business solutions that make a visible difference for our clients.  Currently working in a major Consulting firm, and/or in industry but having a Consulting background Proven ability to be successful in a matrixed organisation, and to enlist support and commitment from peers in selling and delivering consulting solutions. Experience of proposition building and delivery.

Why Capgemini is unique

At Capgemini we don’t just believe in Diversity & Inclusion, we actively go out to making it a working reality. Driven by our core values and Active Inclusion Campaign, we build environments where you can bring you whole self to work.
We aim to build an environment where employees can enjoy a positive work-life balance. Through our New Normal campaign, we are looking to embed hybrid working in all that we do and make flexible working arrangements the day-to-day reality for our people. All UK employees are eligible to request flexible working arrangements.
Employee wellbeing is vitally important to us as an organisation. We see a healthy and happy workforce a critical component for us to achieve our organisational ambitions. To help support wellbeing we have trained ‘Mental Health Champions’ across each of our business areas. We have also invested in wellbeing apps such as Thrive and Peppy.

Collaboration and Innovation:

We really believe in creating a partnership with our customers. Using our Accelerated Solutions Environment (ASE), you’ll get to know the customer’s needs and challenges, demo innovative solutions and quickly solve problems. It’ll help you discover unexpected answers together.

Learning and development:

There’s an endless amount to learn at Capgemini, and an endless number of ways to do so. So, you’ll also have unique training opportunities to take advantage of. Some of our consultants even have the chance to go to Les Fontaine (near Paris, France), where we host a conference. Outside of dedicated training, everyone makes time to help and support one another - collaboration is encouraged across all our teams.

CSR:

We’re also focused on using tech to have a positive social impact. So, we’re working to reduce our own carbon footprint and improve everyone’s access to a digital world. It’s something we’re really serious about. In fact, we were even named as one of the world’s most ethical companies by the Ethisphere Institute for the 10th year. When you join Capgemini, you’ll join a team that does the right thing.

Whilst you will have London, Manchester or Glasgow as an office base location, you must be fully flexible in terms of assignment location, as these roles may involve periods of time away from home at short notice.
