Summary ofrole

To share with other staff inmeeting the personal care and support needs of customers in a waythat respects the dignity of the individual and promotes theirindependence. The care and support provided by Care Assistants isexpected to include support that would reasonably be given bymembers of the clients family and is not to include tasks thatwould normally be undertaken by a trainednurse.

Tasks

Principalresponsibilities

  • Toassist clients who need help getting up and going to bed in themorning and evenings including dressing and undressing washingbathing and going to the toilet.
  • To helpclients with their mobility and with any physical disabilitiesincluding incontinence and use of personal aids andequipment.
  • To care for clients who aretemporarily sick and need bed nursing and help with feedingetc.
  • To provide care and support for clientswho are terminally ill.
  • To help in thepromotion of mental and physical activities of clients throughtalking outings reading writing hobbies andrecreations.
  • To make and change beds lightcleaning emptying commodes and generaltidying.
  • To inspect launder and mend clientsclothes.
  • To set tables and trays prepare andserve light meals clearing away and washingup.
  • To read and write reports and be involvedin clients reviews and training activities.
  • Toadhere to all Silverberry Cares policies and procedures at alltimes.
  • To report either to the Field CareSupervisor or Care Manager any significant changes in the health orcircumstances of a client.
  • To encourage theindependence of clients whereverpossible.
