We have big ambitions for our patients, we work hard to make sure they achieve lots. The same goes for our staff and previous staff in these roles have presented their work around the world (including international symposiums in Singapore and Paris). This role is working within a team that have funded additional training on certified courses (such as BAHT courses and MSc Modules in Burns care).

We have a post for a highly specialized Occupational Therapists to work within our Burns and Plastics Service and are open to flexible working requests such as working part time hours and would consider job share for the right candidates. We would also consider a developmental post for those who do not yet meet all the criteria for working at this level but could be recruited at an AfC Band 6 role with a development programme to attain their Band 7 role within a set time frame.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with the Burns & Plastics multi-disciplinary team, you will be part of making decisions about surgery, splinting or the conservative management of scarring and function. This will include both inpatient and outpatient care. You will promote an occupation focus to ensure that services promote independence and prepare young people for transition.

The children and young people we work with are always changing and are always challenging us to keep up with them. We are making sure that our services are changing with them and giving our staff the opportunity to work flexibly.

We are looking for passionate, resilient and innovative Occupational Therapists who have an interest in working with children, young people and their families.

Familiarity with working across a variety of Occupational Therapy settings is welcome.

There are multiple opportunities within the Occupational Therapy department to contribute to service and even if the posts currently advertised are not exactly what you are looking for, if you are an experienced Occupational Therapist who is passionate about working with young people, please, contact us and have a chat about what opportunities we may have for you at Birmingham Children's Hospital.
