The Hand unit within the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham is a regional centre for patients with acute and complex needs and a tertiary centre for peripheral nerve injuries.
We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced senior Upper Limb Therapist (OT or PT) to join our team. You will join a large Upper Limb team to assist in the delivery of high-quality care. You will be responsible treating a range of interesting and complex upper limb patients, including hand, elbow and nerve trauma, post-operative rehab and have opportunity to gain experience in clinical sub specialists (major trauma, sports rehabilitation, rheumatology, emergency medicine, research)
The post will be based within our Upper Limb rehabilitation department with a supportive team of specialist Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy assistants. You will work within MDT upper limb trauma clinics alongside surgeons, in addition to elective clinics run at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital nearby.
The new year saw University Hospitals Birmingham recognise and acknowledge the incredible work our AHP's do. Four Board level Hospital Directors for AHP's were appointed and our facilities invested in.

Appropriate Physiotherapy Occupational Therapy or professional qualification e.g. Registration with Health Care Professions Council E
*Evidence of commitment to advanced clinical and non-clinical continued professional development within own speciality, e.g. post registration training, management / Leadership competencies and evidence of a detailed personal development portfolio E
*Relevant, accredited, postgraduate education / courses pertinent to Upper Limb Therapy E

Attended student educator course

Significant post registration experience of which considerable experience has been in this specialty in an acute NHS organisation E
*Experience of staff management including supervision and of development and performance management of staff. Significant experience in education and clinical training of others. Advanced knowledge and skills in the specialist assessment and treatment of a wide range of complex acute and chronic clinical presentations relating to older adult patients. Awareness of current evidence in Upper Limb Therapy care and application to clinical practice, using advanced clinical reasoning skills E
*Significant experience in the development and performance management of physiotherapists/occupational therapists and students E

Good knowledge and application of all areas of Clinical Governance including Quality, Audit and Risk management D
*Understands the legal responsibilities of the profession D
*Good understanding of principles of data and statistics and experience of their use in evaluation of service delivery D
*Teaching experience to uni and multi-professional groups with evidence of ability to deliver high quality presentations D
