CareersBU Engagement Officer

Bournemouth, United Kingdom Bournemouth University Full time

Bournemouth University’s vision is worldwide recognition as a leading university for inspiring learning, advancing knowledge and enriching society through the fusion of education, research and practice. Our highly skilled and creative workforce is comprised of individuals drawn from a broad cross section of the globe, who reflect a variety of backgrounds, talents, perspectives and experiences that help to build our global learning community.

CareersBU is part of the Student Services directorate and provides a wide range of careers and employability support to BU students and graduates. This includes one-to-one appointments, webinars and workshops, an extra-curricular skills programme, careers fairs, online resources and much more. We exist to help our students develop their skills, gain experience, and make informed career decisions.

This post leads on engaging students and graduates with the service, through a combination of digital and face-to-face approaches with an objective of introducing more students to CareersBU. This is an exciting opportunity to design and deliver new approaches to student engagement at a time when employability has never been more important. We seek to be a service that proactively reaches out to students; making thinking about your career an accessible and unintimidating thing to do. This role has a vital part to play in this mission.

The role will have a particular focus on increasing engagement with segments of the student population who currently do not use the CareersBU service for a range of reasons. There will be a focus on developing engaging content – including social media, video, and case studies. The postholder will recruit and supervise up to 5 student Careers Champions each working 5-10 hours per week. Our Champions are current BU students who create content – allowing us to use students’ voices in our marketing.

Applicants should be creative, positive and ambitious; confident engaging with students from all backgrounds, and with experience in creating engaging digital content such as videos, social media and website content.

A detailed job description and person specification are available from our website together with an online application form. Alternatively please email the HR Services Team at quoting the appropriate reference (SSS).
