We’re looking for a Principal Test Architect to our CoE engineering leadership team at Tesco Bank. Collaborating with QA Managers you’ll drive test engineering excellence, automation and improvement across our change delivery.

What you’ll be doing

·Leadership: Collaborating with QA Managers to ensure the highest level of test engineering excellence across the bank’s change delivery.

·Coordination: Developing, maintaining, and rolling out the test engineering strategy, automated controls, standards, and processes.

·Expertise: Serving as a subject matter expert on testing and test automation within the bank.

·Culture: Fostering a test engineering culture that encourages sharing new ideas, challenging existing practices, and creating a culture of continuous improvement for test and software engineers.

·Strategy: Setting the direction and strategy for the test engineering practice, driving continuous improvement, metrics and innovation to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of test engineering within an agile team set up.

·Mentorship: Working closely with engineers at all levels, from leads to juniors, mentoring and supporting them to develop their careers

We need you to have

·Technical Mastery: In-depth knowledge of modern test and quality engineering practices with expertise in developing test automation for web, API, and mobile.

·Test Strategy: In-depth knowledge of test processes and techniques, including test approaches for Agile & DevOps methods.

·Agile Practices: Knowledge of Agile practices and ceremonies.

·Test Automation: Demonstrable experience in setting automation strategy and implementing framework and tooling for testing and test automation with support for CI/CD.

·Big Picture: Ability to grasp broader technology goals and standardise and integrate tool chains.

·Continuous Improvement: Experience in using metrics and data to continually improve the delivery of testing.

·Non-Functional Testing: Experience of performance testing at application and enterprise level.

·Line Management: Experience of line management of engineers and creating high performing teams.

·Test Data Management: Experience in implementing enterprise solutions for test data management.

·Monitoring & Observability:Integrating tools like Datadog into test engineering practices to enhance testing strategies, improve system reliability, and provide insights into system behaviour, performance issues and defect diagnosis.

·Coaching: Experience in coaching both junior and senior software engineers.
