The Role

We are looking for a skilled MR physicist to design and deliver high-quality clinical cancer research in magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy within the Centre for In Vivo Imaging located at Healthcare Innovation Neighbourhood in Newcastle University. You will play a pivotal role in the Cancer Imaging Research Programme, to harness the strength of cancer research and medical imaging innovation of Newcastle University.

Newcastle University hosts 1 of the 7 Cancer Research UK centres, with research covering drug discovery, biological mechanism, and the entire pathway of clinical care. Within the imaging centre, there are two 3.0T research-dedicated Philips scanners and a 3.0T clinical GE PET-MR scanner, with pulse programming and advanced scan capabilities. Human studies are supported by a dedicated research radiography team.

The imaging centre works alongside the many clinical academics within the Faculty of Medical Sciences, and clinician researchers in the local health NHS Trusts, to design and deliver high impact translational research that improves health. The post-holder will primarily develop and support studies in cancer research, with possibilities of being involved in research of other medical conditions.
