Sheffield City Council’s Capital Delivery Service has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced senior architect to join our multidisciplinary team as a studio lead for architectural design.

Managing our experienced in-house architectural design team, you will have the opportunity to lead this team in the design and delivery of a wide range of construction projects across the council’s upcoming capital programme.

Role Overview

As the Studio Lead for the in-house architectural design team, your responsibilities will include:

Leading and managing the architectural design team to ensure projects are delivered to programme and budget, while meeting high standards of quality and value. Working with the Service Management Team to develop a culture of constant improvement, instilling design quality and best practice across the architectural design service. Providing expert guidance on architectural and construction design matters to colleagues across the council and externally. Creating a collaborative working environment, both internally with the multidisciplinary team and across the council, and externally with consultants, contractors, supply chains, and other stakeholders. Managing and mentoring staff to encourage effective performance and a satisfying work environment, fostering a positive environment for learning and development. Leading resourcing and fee setting for architectural services, ensuring cost-effective delivery and alignment with the Service Management System.

Qualifications & Experience

Education : Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Architectural Design. Professional Accreditation : Chartered Member of a suitable professional institution – e.g., ARB / RIBA. Experience : Minimum 10 years’ experience working in architectural practice, designing schemes across all RIBA work stages. Experience leading an architectural design team in a senior management role. Skills : Excellent working knowledge of the Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, and other relevant industry regulations and standards. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft suite. Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
