Job summary

We are seeking a talented and imaginative marketer tojoin our Fundraising Marketing Team. The successful applicant will work closelywith the team to deliver all income generation communications and marketingactivity across Birmingham Hospice.

We are looking for a proactive individual who takesthe initiative, can effectively prioritise and has a proven ability to meettight deadlines. You will play a vital role in the planning, implementing and developmentof fundraising campaigns, events and appeals. From designing print artwork andwriting copy, to managing case studies and photography, as well as creating webpages and online forms, this is a varied post for a creative individual.

With a solid background in marketing, copywriting andstorytelling, youll be responsible for sourcing and producing engaging andinspiring content that are integral to our campaigns. Youll have experience working with emailmarketing software and implementing successful email marketing strategies aswell as analysing campaign engagement. Knowledge of social media, video editingand graphic design are an advantage.

You will be responsible for creating online pages andforms on our website, as well as monitoring and maintaining the site. A strongskillset in web management and working with WordPress is essential. You will bea confident communicator with excellent people skills, comfortable inapproaching key stakeholders for stories and content.

Main duties of the job

This post holder willwork closely with the Fundraising Marketing Manager to deliverall income generation communications and marketing activity across BirminghamHospice.

The post holder will playa vital role in planning, implementing and developing fundraising campaigns,events and appeals. From designing print artwork and writing copy, to managing casestudies and photography, as well as creating web pages and online forms, thisis a varied post for a creative individual.

The post holder is expectedto bring imagination, innovation and new ideas to the Income Generation Team tohelp secure and grow all forms of voluntary income and raise the profile of BirminghamHospice.

Job responsibilities

Planning and Development

Manage own workload to deliver on set objectivesand KPIs

Build strong working relationships with all incomegeneration and marketing colleagues and teams across the wider charity

Research and develop new marketing trends andopportunities to help maximise income generation opportunities

Ensure all income generation communications andmarketing materials meet legal, compliance and regulatory requirementsincluding Charity Commission, Gift Aid, GDPR and hospice policies

Have a good understanding of income generation andhospice care

Be an active participant in all income generationteam meetings and working groups

ContentCreation print and digital

Design artwork and writecopy to support income generation colleagues

Update existing artwork asrequired and brief external designers when needed

Support income generationcolleagues to produce and deliverdirect mail appeals

Work with fundraising colleaguesto produce engaging supporter materials to help develop income from new andexisting supporters

Identify newsworthyfundraising and retail stories and support the delivery of press releases,editorial content and blogs accordingly

Act as a brand guardian,ensuring Birmingham Hospice and its associated brands are recognised on allfundraising and retail printed collateral, merchandise and signage, as well asdigitally

Liaise with fundraising andretail colleagues and the FundraisingMarketing Manager to ensure all copy is proof-read, edited, signed off andapproved in a timely manner

Build strongrelationships with external suppliers to ensure efficient working and value formoney at all times.

Build strong media and PRrelationships with local and national press and engage them in the charitysfundraising and retail activities

Ensure that all marketingmaterials are produced on time and within budget

Lead on email marketingby producing and distributing high-quality and engaging communications to ourdatabase.

Case StudyManagement

Support income generation campaigns by collatingand distributing powerful and engaging case studies to be used across print,digital and social media

Develop and maintain a suite of case studies,including patient, staff/volunteer and participant stories, to support incomegeneration colleagues

Ensure that all interactions with people involvedin case studies reflect positively on Birmingham Hospice

Photography andVideography

Lead on photography and videography support forincome generation colleagues

Develop and maintain a photography andvideography suite

Organise and manage photoshoots either internally orwith external support as appropriate

Build strongrelationships with external suppliers to ensure efficient working and value formoney at all times.

Digital and SocialMedia

Work with the Fundraising Marketing Manager and Communicationsand Marketing Assistant to ensure that messaging is consistent across onlineand offline channels

Create content for social media as and when neededas part of campaigns or day-to-day posting.

Cover Communications and Marketing Assistants workloadduring periods of absence , scheduling social media, etc.

Expectations

Work flexible hours including evenings and weekendswhen required

Ability to travel to external meetings

Ability to work across both hospice sites

Assist at fundraising events and activities whereappropriate and necessary

Undertake any other duties as may be required bythe Fundraising Marketing Manager and/or Income Generation Director.

Essential

Educated to A level or equivalent or can demonstrate a thorough underpinning knowledge and theory relevant to the role Evidence of CPD

Desirable

Educated to degree level or equivalent in marketing, PR, communications or English Chartered Institute of Marketing qualification IoF Institute of Fundraising qualification

Experience

Essential

Experience of working in a fundraising and/or marketing environment Experience of using graphic design software such as Adobe suite/Canva Experience of briefing and managing external design, photography and PR agencies Experience of copywriting for varied audiences Experience of using WordPress. Experience of using email marketing platforms such as MailChimp, Campaign Monitor, etc.

Desirable

Knowledge of the NHS/voluntary sector Good knowledge of GDPR Experience of organising and managing photoshoots and filming sessions Experience of managing digital channels including websites and a variety of social media platforms
