The Role
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic apprentice who is ready We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic apprentice who is ready to embark on their initial working journey with Bolton Council. Our apprenticeship posts are designed to support and help you discover and enhance your unique skills and talents. Through hands on experience and personalised mentorship, you will gain the confidence and knowledge to excel in your chosen career path with us.
Don’t worry about experience; we are recruiting on passion and drive. This is an entry-level role that is ideal for a recent school or college leaver aiming to kickstart their career within Bolton Council.
Whilst working towards the successful completion of your apprenticeship programme, you will learn on the job, assisting and supporting the team in the planning and planting of seasonal bedding plants and floral display. Under the guidance of experienced colleagues, you will also maintain sports turf facilities such as bowling greens and football pitches along with grassed areas within housing estates, open spaces, public parks and ornamental areas.
About You
We are searching for an individual who is highly motivated with a desire to learn and develop in this apprenticeship role. The ideal candidate should be able to work effectively both within a team and independently. You will have good time management skills along with excellent communication abilities for interacting with our customers and colleagues. You will hold basic computer literacy experience and have familiarity with the use of Microsoft Office.
We are looking for an enthusiastic apprentice physically fit for employment involving some lifting and able to undertake aspects of the job such as carrying/standing for periods of time. This role will involve predominately working outdoors in varying weather conditions. If you are ready for the opportunity to make a difference, you might be just what we are looking for
Applicants should hold GCSE’s (or equivalent) in maths and English at grade C/grade 4 or above (or be expected to obtain these by September 2024) or must commit to achieving within the duration of the apprenticeship.
This is a developmental role, as part of this opportunity, you will work towards a Level 2 Horticulture and Landscaping Construction Operative Apprenticeship qualification and as such applicants must not already hold a Horticulture or Landscaping qualification (or similar) at level 2 or above.
