Our ‘Research & Analysis’ teams are looking for Area Intelligence Analysts to join them. These teams are critical in helping Hampshire & IOW Constabulary with their purpose of making ‘You, Your Family, and Our Communities Safer’ by working together with intelligence officers to support the forces’ intelligence capability.

As an analyst, you will work in a busy team with other analysts and researchers, under the management and direction of a lead analyst. The teams are based in our three Police Investigation Centres (Basingstoke, Southampton and Portsmouth) and while there may be an expectation that you travel between these locations on occasion, you will be primarily based at one.

About the role

As an Intelligence Analyst, you will conduct analysis of a variety of data sets to support the identification and investigation of issues that may pose a threat, or that suggest a crime or incident series is occurring. In doing this, you will identify opportunities to protect and safeguard vulnerable individuals and communities. 

Your work will closely link with the Researchers, Intelligence Officers and other Analysts in your team, and together you will build a picture of issues affecting local communities, and potentially impact the wider force and beyond. 

You role is pivotal and you will have the opportunity to influence the direction of the analysis and then see the positive outcomes of your decisions, from successful prosecutions of offenders, to better support for victims.

Your duties on any day may include:

Building relationships with customers to identify, influence and assist in problem solving and decision making. You will ensure that your analysis focuses on highlighting the key issues and answering the right questions in the most efficient and appropriate way.
Be a subject matter expert in analytical tools and techniques by using your professional expertise and evidence to guide others across the force, through formal and informal engagement.
Prepare and appropriately present the results of analysis to internal colleagues and outside organisations, including partner agencies.
Promote the concept of ‘evidence based policing’ across the organisations and within the analysis team. Use evidence based policing techniques such as targeting, testing and tracking, to support identification and delivery of ‘what works’.
