We are a small friendlypractice with a patient population of approximately 5000. Our team currentlyconsists of 2 GP Partners, 1 Nurse Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, 1Healthcare Assistant, and 8 Administrative staff.

We are seeking a PracticeManager who has knowledge and experience of leadership and communicationskills. They will have responsibility for effectively managing the operationalday to day running of the practice, with support from the Partners.

The main responsibilitieswill be Staff management and ensuring the efficient performance of thePractice, which is currently a consistently high QOF achiever.

The essential skills will bethe ability to lead the practice team, while maintaining good relationshipswith both the clinical and the administrative staff, the ability to undertakemultiple tasks, and the application of excellent IM&T skills.

MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE POST:

To provide aleadership role in the practice to support the GP Partners to deliver acomprehensive, quality driven service to the patient population.

PROFESSIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Management:

Overseeing day to day operations of the organisation

Management of Clinical and administrative staff

Detailed knowledge of GMS contract, PCN contracts, local contracts andQOF

Leading change and continuous improvement initiatives; coordinating allprojects within the organisation.

Overseeing and chairing meetings and being responsible for minutes anddissemination of information to the wider team.

Responsible for CQC compliance and maintaining up to date systems andprocess as required by CQC.

Ensuring the organisation maintains compliance with its NHS contractualobligations.

Financial Management and Planning:

To develop,maintain and implement management policies and procedures to meet the financialaims and objectives of the practice.

Overseeingpractice accounts, ensuring year- end figures are submitted in a timely fashionand liaising with partners and practice accountant when needed.

Responsibilityfor payroll, monitoring PAYE and contributions to the practice pension scheme.

Human Resource Management:

To develop andmaintain a Human Resource Management strategy which incorporates individual andteam objectives.

To undertakeregular workforce reviews, with particular reference to skill requirements,post and workload, making any recommendations for change to support and improvedelivery of care.

To develop andmaintain robust staff employment policies and procedures which comply withcurrent legislation

To ensure thateffective systems are in place to support the development of staff, includingappraisal, performance reviews and mentoring.

Management of Communications:

To ensure thatthere are communication channels for all members of the Primary Health CareTeam to encourage good staff relationships

To ensureeffective working relationships with external organisations, including SouthYorkshire ICB; South Primary Care Network; NHS England; IT service team and LMC

To promote goodrelationships between staff and patients, encouraging feedback and supportingthe PPG.

To provideeffective communication to patients regarding the services which are availableto them.

Liaising atexternal meetings when required

Minuting practicemeetings and disseminating information to relevant parties.

Management of Premises and Health &Safety:

To develop andmaintain a Health & Safety at Work management policy

To managepolicies & procedures to ensure that the premises are well maintained andthat there is appropriate insurance cover in place.

To ensure thatthere is regular maintenance of property, equipment & services in with currentstatutory requirements

To develop andmanage risk assessment policies and procedures, including COSSH, to adhere tocurrent Health & Safety guidelines

Risk Management and Quality Assurance:

To manage thequality of service delivery and promote clinical effectiveness, throughclinical audit in conjunction with the GP Partners

To initiate anddevelop management policies and procedures that will encourage continuousquality improvement in the services provided to our patients.

To initiate anddevelop all aspects of risk management in clinical and administrative areas,including the domains of Health & Safety; Infection Control; EqualOpportunities and Significant Events

Information Technology Management:

To develop andmonitor information management systems, including optimising the use oftechnology.

To ensure thatthe practice IT systems are managed appropriately, and within statutoryguidelines and requirements, including maintaining policies for confidentialityand data protection

To develop andmaintain a robust IM&T policy which will maximise the use of current and future information systems

To work inconjunction with the ICB data quality team for any future developments of theinformation system.

To assumeresponsibility, during and following any major event, ensuring that servicerecovery is timely and effective in line with the practice business continuitypolicy

Management of Workload and PersonalDevelopment:

To takeinitiative in prioritising and managing your workload, delegating tasksappropriately, and referring to designated partners in respect of clinical,managerial and administrative areas if necessary

To maintain yourown personal and professional development, by attending relevant events andtaking up membership of a relevant professional body if deemed necessary
