Job summary

Due to the expansion of our service, we are looking for Band 7 HCPC registered MRI Radiographers to join our growing MRI team at the Royal London Hospital.

This post gives you the opportunity to use your clinical expertise, knowledge, and skills in MRI to offer stability to the team at RLH. Applications are welcome from staff with accredited post graduate training in MRI and those who are working in MRI as senior radiographers.

We can offer state of the art equipment in an exciting acute and specialist setting. The Royal London Hospital MRI Department is currently equipped with 3 Siemens scanners: brand new Magnetom 3T Vida and Sola installed in 2022, and a Siemens Avanto Fit upgraded in 2021.

Magnetom Vida and Sola scanners run on the first BioMatrix system which leverages the intelligent combination of Tim 4G and the Siemens unique BioMatrix technology to be ready to embrace the unique set of challenges that every patient brings to the MRI.

The successful candidates will be a motivated self-starter with considerable post graduate experience in MRI and the ability to train and engage radiographers in MRI. They will be involved in the review and implementation of new scanning protocols in conjunction with Radiologists, ensuring all staff are aware of the new studies/procedures.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will participate in the effective and safe running of the MRI department and will be able to perform a wide range of specialist MRI scans in the extended hours 7-day service. The post holder will offer supervision to band 6 radiographers, imaging assistants, students, and visitors to the MRI department. The post holder will ensure patient flow in the trust by actively managing the flow of emergency and in-patients to ensure same day scanning. Furthermore, they will be expected to engage in prompt protocolling, checking of conditional devices, booking of sedated and GA patients, liaison with radiologists and other clinicians to actively unblock barriers to scanning. The post holder will be key in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and experience and will be enabled to deal with and diffuse potential complaints to the patient and carers' satisfaction. On-call/out of hours work is a requirement of this role.
