Mental Health Support Worker

Location: Gosport

Salary Scale: £76.92 to £103.04 per day

About the Role:

GSL Education is on the lookout for a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker for immediate placement at schools in Gosport. We are seeking an individual committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes the well-being of students with mental health needs.

In this role, you'll provide essential guidance, care, and encouragement, playing a crucial part in helping students navigate their educational journey and achieve their full potential. Mental Health Support Worker Role:

  • Work closely with students on a one-on-one basis, providing tailored support to meet their unique mental health needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to implement strategies that promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Be a calming presence during challenging situations, offering immediate support and helping students navigate difficult emotions.
  • Maintain open communication with parents, providing updates on students' progress and collaborating on strategies for continued support at home.
  • Working in classrooms supporting Teachers and fellow Teaching Assistants.

Requirements for Mental Health Support Worker role:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counselling, or a related field
  •  Experience working with children in a mental health or educational setting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  •  Compassion and empathy for the well-being of children
  • Experience working with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs

To work with GSL Education as a Mental Health Support Worker, you should: 

  • Have the right to work in the UK. 
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years. 
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
