We are looking for a clinically credible midwife with a broad range of midwifery experience who is able to deliver a high standard of evidence based clinical care. We need someone who has evidence of education delivery with excellent communication, good leadership and networking skills. The successful candidate will need the ability, skills and knowledge to support the maternity team on our journey from Good to Outstanding.

The successful candidate will need experience in supporting junior staff and/or students to enable smooth transition from student to newly qualified Midwife.

You will need to be self -motivated, enthusiastic , flexible and highly organised and have a distinct passion for maternity services and a drive for continuous improvement in maternity services

Main duties of the job

Demonstrate clinical expertise and knowledge as a role model and be a source of expertise with a positive approach to education across the service.

Lead in the orientation and induction of new Band 5's within the maternity outpatient service.

To design and implement rotations for new preceptees to ensure experience in all areas of maternity services

To support the education team to deliver all aspects of maternity training

You will need to have the ability to work as part of a wider multi- disciplinary team but also demonstrate your own autonomy in managing your own day to day workload.

Plan and implement robust induction programmes for all NQM's alongside the maternity education team To support NQM's in their transition in all clinical areas To work alongside the maternity education team to implement and deliver evidenced based maternity training Liaise with other appropriate multidisciplinary and organisations for effective collaborative care as appropriate. Support Preceptees in enhancing their skills in reducing risk within clinical practice Provide midwifery expertise, ensuring all preceptees are supported in their practice Attend Divisional meetings and provide a summary report on clinical issues Participate and undertake in the development of maternity guidelines Being conversant with all publications and documentations issued by the NMC in relation to training and development Practising within the NMC rules and codes of conduct Adhere to Trust rules and clinical guidelines of the Trust and be aware of any changes that may affect midwifery Maintain contemporaneous records in an accurate and legible manner Being aware of all current safeguarding polices relevant to the provider Trust Actively participating in clinical governance strategy, audit, and risk management Maintain close links with the midwifery education team and clinical skills teams within providers and contribute to the provider trust Take an active role in the implementation of the emerging Midwifery agenda Ensure attendance at training as appropriate to the needs of the role
