Urology Outpatient Department are delighted to advertise a Band 6 Deputy Sister position within our expanding, fast paced and diverse Department
Ideal for a motivated, professional candidate with relevant experience and strong leadership skills, this post will see the successful candidate working alongside the Department Sister, supporting the delivery of excellent standards of care and strengthening our team.
The Department delivers a wide range of clinics, addressing both benign and Cancer related Urological conditions. Clinics are delivered by both medical colleagues and specialist nursing teams. The service continues to expand in response to capacity demand; an exciting time to join our team

Main duties of the job
OVERALL OBJECTIVES
To assist the Out-Patient Department (OPD) manager, taking responsibility for the operational management of staff and resources to provide a safe environment for patients and in the manager's absence, assume responsibility for the department.
To assist the OPD manager in ensuring patients attending OPD are cared for to the highest possible standard and to develop practice with the support of the OPD manager.
To take the lead in a specific aspect of OPD service, including practicing clinically in an agreed care setting according to approved protocols or guidance, for example, intermittent self-catheterisation training or TWOC services.
KEY RESULT AREAS
Co-ordinate service activity daily ensuring appropriate use of resources.
Supervise and mentor qualified and unqualified staff.
Manage complex patient referrals to maintain patient and department safety.
Contribute to the development of the service philosophy and the therapeutic environment.
Have a sensitive and compassionate manner with patients and relatives who are in various states of emotional distress.
