Are you a strategic thinker with a proven track record in business management and operations? We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Manager to join our Chief Operating Officer's (COO) Office.
An exciting opportunity has emerged within the Chief Operating Officer team for the position of Business Manager. In this role within the COO office, you will manage and coordinate crucial operational tasks.
Your responsibilities will include strategic planning, performance oversight, and process improvements to ensure our Trust functions at optimal efficiency.
Main duties of the job
The Business Manager plays a crucial role in the Chief Operating Officer's senior team, supporting the implementation of various initiatives and service delivery within the Directorate to achieve the Chief Operating Officer's strategic goals.
This position will offer business support to the Chief Operating Officer and senior team, addressing daily operational matters in the COO's office.
You will assist the Chief Operating Officer's team by monitoring adherence to both internal and external governance and best practice standards. Additionally, you will work on specific projects for the Chief Operating Officer's office, such as developing business cases and supporting recruitment processes.
Within this role you will create a system to oversee and report on the yearly budget of the Chief Operating Officer, working with the Senior Team to evaluate data, providing insights on value for money, cost benefits, and spending throughout the year, while ensuring that Cost Improvement Projects (CIP) savings are adequately planned.

Duties and Responsibilities
Operational Delivery
Support the Chief Operating Officers team with the development and delivery of a strategic vision, in line with the Trust Strategy, ensuring that service changes meet internal and external expectations and standards. Provide business support to the Chief Operating Officer and the senior team and deal with the day to day operational issues within the Chief Operating Officers Office. Manage and develop the implementation of effective office systems, control processes, budget management and bids control and evaluation, and risk management arrangements. Support the Chief Operating Officers team in operational elements to achieve all standards for example: UEC performance, Elective and Cancer performance, contractual requirements. Support the Chief Operating Officers team in the monitoring of compliance with internal and external governance and best practice requirements. Undertake specific areas of project work on behalf of the Chief Operating Officers office, including business cases and recruitment processes. Monitor goals and milestones that have been set by the Chief Operating Officer across the different functions in line with agreed objectives, then measure and report on delivery. Drive and manage, on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer, the preparation of the department business plan, ensuring business plans are prepared by all functions within the Chief Operating Officers office. Participate in meetings with members of management teams and administrative staff. Lead on digital communication strategy that promotes the agenda of the Chief Operating Officers office. Identify national/regional policy directives applicable to the Chief Operating Officers office agenda and lead on their integration into the any Chief Operating Officers offices Business Plan in conjunction with the relevant Director. In conjunction with relevant leads, develop and monitor action plans to support delivery of operational performance standards, and report to the Chief Operating Officer. Monitor compliance within the Chief Operating Officers office with staff management policies and procedures and take remedial action with accountable Directors where shortfalls occur. Provide leadership to Chief Operating Officers office staff, including ensuring they receive necessary training, undertake statutory and mandatory training and have completed their appraisals in order to complete their role. Develop job descriptions for replacement or new positions as they arise. Establish a system to monitor and report on the annual Chief Operating Officers budget, liaising with the Senior Team to analyse data commenting on value for money, cost benefit, spend throughout the year, ensuring Cost Improvement Projects (CIP) savings are planned. Support the Chief Operating Officer in identifying both new opportunities for the Directorate arising from changes in the external environment or internal innovation and potential threats and ways to respond to them. Contribute to business planning and strategy development and direction for the Chief Operating Officers office. Manage a range of service improvement projects, Cost Improvement Schemes, short term and long term, within the Chief Operating Officers office and contribute to both Chief Operating Officers office and Trust-wide improvement projects within agreed timeframes and financial targets, including the quality review of CIP proposals. Manage key projects for the Chief Operating Officer to support the delivery of the departments objectives. This will included a range of initiatives to achieve the strategic aims of the Chief Operating Officers office. Undertake occasional internal audits of the initiatives across the Chief Nursing Officers office.Communication and Partnership Working
Ensure the Chief Operating Officer receives regular updates on projects and areas of priority concern. Facilitate and lead meetings and briefings with a range of internal staff and external stakeholders. Receive, manage and communicate highly complex, confidential and sensitive information to members of staff in the department and across the Trust. Act as a contact for national and regional external agencies. Manage, motivate, persuade and influence multiple stakeholders and partners to ensure timely completion of work across the projects and partnerships. Liaise with relevant external parties associated with initiatives and projects within the Chief Operating Officers office. Present to groups within the Trust and other stakeholders key issues that the Chief Operating Officer needs to disseminate.Financial Responsibilities
Act as an authorising signatory for capital and revenue budgets within limits agreed with the Directorate. Monitor office and project resource utilisation and expenditures when required.Information Management
Co-ordinate and disseminate information to the relevant Director on new national and local policies. Gather, manipulate and present complex data (clinical/financial/ performance) to support project development, design. Provide briefings, board reports and plans for discussion and implementation of policy as required.
