Job summary

An Opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Supervisor to work at The Northumbria Hospital. The successful candidate will supervise the current Multi Skilled Building Craftsperson's team to maintain the hospital site and numerous other buildings. The post is hours per week Monday to Friday and will also take part in the Estates on call rota.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will directly supervise a multi-skilled building service and external contract provision to the Estates Department. Ensure that all PPM and minor works are completed to a high standard and that relevant documentation and training is carried out. Ensure that all work undertaken is effectively monitored and a sample audits are carried out for all disciplines on a regular basis, to demonstrate performance and compliance.

They will be required to participate in the Estates on-call rota and undertake essential out of hours on-call duties, as directed.

The successful applicant will already have significant Building Services experience, be versatile, able to handle conflicting priorities and have the ability to work under pressure. They will be computer literate, have good technical knowledge and ability, with good verbal and written communication skills. They will also possess good interpersonal skills, allowing them to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical personnel, within and beyond the organisation.

Job responsibilities

To provide effective supervisory support to the multi-skilled Building team within the Estates Department, and support to all Client departments and Directorates.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Minimum BTEC /City & Guilds Higher National Certificate in Joinery, or relevant experience Recognised CITB Craft Apprenticeship.

Desirable

BTEC HNC.

Experience

Significant post apprenticeship relevant experience of working within an Estates healthcare environment. Hold, or be prepared to accept with relevant training, Authorised Person (AP) responsibilities in such areas as Working at Heights and Confined Spaces Experience of working on a wide range building fabric/furniture, undertaking planned maintenance and repairs

Desirable

Minimum 5 years Supervisory experience

It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role.
