Leader Education are working with an Alternative Provision in Northumberland, to appoint a committed individual to fill the role of Trainee Learning Support Mentor.

Your new role will involve:

- Supporting students with SEMH difficulties on a 1:1 or small group basis
- Liaising with teachers to ensure the best possible progress for the pupil/s
- Managing challenging behaviour when students become anxious or upset
- Delivering fun, engaging activities and sessions
- Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil/s
- Assisting with regular trips and sporting activities and getting involved as much as possible

You need to be
- Able to handle challenging behaviours confidently
- Flexible and adaptable to meet the specific unique needs of SEMH learners
- Creative and organised in your approach to delivering a balanced and engaging curriculum
- Passionate about helping students that may have become disenfranchised with education, to achieve their personal and academic goals
- Willing to take part in regular excursions such as sporting activities and outward bound exercises

The contract type for this role is full time, long-term supply but there are opportunities for this to become a permanent job direct with the school.
