PositionSummary: The Biological Scientist at the Center forAlzheimers and Related Dementias will support biologicalexperiments manage human biological samples for nextgenerationsequencing and genotyping and coordinate with clinical sites. Thisrole involves tracking sample status and information for reportingpurposes and contributing to manuscript preparation andpresentations.

• Masters degreein biology genetics or a related field

Responsibilities:

1. Laboratory Work and SamplePreparation:
   • Perform basiclaboratory experiments and procedures.
   • Preparehuman patient samples for nextgeneration sequencing and arraybasedgenotyping.
   • Normalize DNA concentrations platesamples measure concentrations via Qubit etc.
2. Coordination andCommunication:
   • Lead the coordinationof sample reconciliation and serve as the point of contact forclinical sites collecting and preparing patient samples.
   • Address questions from sites about laboratoryrequirements and other labrelated queries.
   • Work collaboratively with other biologists andindependently on clinical laboratory studies ingenetics.
3. Administrative and Documentation:
   • Provide reports on project status and workwith administrative/project staff to document project logistics andtimelines.
   • Maintain and organize various labsamples supplies and equipment.
   • Track sampleinformation in electronic spreadsheets and laboratorynotebooks.
4. Support and Development:
   • Assist in preparing presentations and manuscripts forinternal staff and external community.
   • Document all experimental protocols in laboratorynotebooks for replication and troubleshooting.
   • Learn new laboratory techniques andprocedures.
   • Assist in drafting and testing newmethodologies for projects and manuscripts.
   • Troubleshoot equipment and plan new experimentsindependently and in teams.
   • Leaddecisionmaking with sites about sample preparation and shipmentlogistics.
   • Help implement new protocols asneeded.
