Owlstone Medical is seeking a dedicated Analytical R&D Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic analytical science department. This role focuses on supporting experiments through routine lab-based tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and analytical skills, with a background in general microbiology and analytical science tasks. Key responsibilities include preparing and processing biological samples, performing routine assays, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment, and ensuring accurate and reliable data collection. Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare samples and perform routine laboratory tests and experiments as directed by the research team.
  • Assist in the development, optimization, and validation of analytical methods and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Record experimental procedures, observations, and results accurately and in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes and procedures.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in a research and development environment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong laboratory skills, including sample preparation, pipetting, and handling of hazardous chemicals.
  • Knowledge of basic analytical techniques such as cell culturing, micobiology, spectroscopy, chromatography, and mass spectrometry.
  • Ability to follow detailed protocols and maintain accurate records.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Basic computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office and data analysis software.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
