Job summary

This is a Fixed Term Contract opportunity (or a Secondment opportunity for internal applicants) for up to a period of 12 months.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Manager to work as part of ourdedicated team within the Inpatient Forensic Team based at Langdon, in Dawlish.

The role isdynamic and challenging and we are looking for someone who is highly motivated,innovative and enthusiastic who can demonstrate an eagerness for the on-goingdevelopment of the service.

You would be joining us at an exciting timeas our service continues to develop.

You will need excellent communication andleadership skills to ensure collaborative work with service users, utilisingthe wellbeing and recovery model, to provide the highest quality of care.

This role will require the post-holder toprovide strong, practical and clinical leadership with the highest regard tovaluing and supporting your team. You will have the confidence and skills to support your team to respond to boththe physical and mental well-being needs of your patients in partnership with amulti-disciplinary team and be a strong advocate for your patients.

Successful candidates will need todemonstrate a sound experience of risk assessment and management and will becommitted to the principles of service user and carer involvement; as well asshowing expertise in budgetary management and being able to understand and meetperformance criteria.

Main duties of the job

You will be an RMN, OT or Social Worker with post registration experience, including significant experience in a Band 6 position. In return we offer a highly supportive and cohesive multi-disciplinary team with a range of opportunities to further develop your abilities and career.

You will haveexperience of working in a team. The role involves communication, so we expectthat you have excellent verbal and written skills.

Interactingwith patients and the public you will be confident in giving non-clinicalinformation and advice that improves their experience. Dealing with sensitiveinformation daily, you will understand the importance of data security.

You will oftenwork under pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking forsomeone confident and capable. You will prioritise tasks, and manage your ownworkload, providing support for your colleagues where required.

You will becomean important part of the team, working to ensure that every patient receiveshigh quality care. You may be required to support the induction of new staffmember, demonstrating activities to them and providing supervision to supportadministrators.

Experience of monitoring staff performance Managerial experience. Several years proven experience at a middle managerial post in a mental health setting Experience of working within a forensic setting Experience of working with criminal justice agencies Proven experience in Medicines Management

Qualifications
