Job overview

The Fundraising Assistant position is a critical role to support the Fundraising Manager in the effective development and smooth running of the fundraising function at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Charitable Fund, helping to raise valuable funds to help enhance patient care and staff wellbeing across the Trust.

The main purpose of the role will be to help manage the day-to-day administration for the fundraising function as well as delivering strong supporter stewardship. The Fundraising Assistant will also take a lead role in managing the Charitable Fund’s CRM system, the challenge event portfolio and will support individual fundraisers and donors. The role may also include some management of volunteers.

Main duties of the job

Work with the Fundraising Manager to ensure effective donor stewardship of individual supporters – ensure that the Fundraising database (CRM System) is always kept up to date. Work with the Fundraising Manager to define and action effective supporter journeys in accordance with their identity / motivation, increasing the lifetime value of supporters. Assist the Fundraising Manager in segmenting the Fundraising database for events, mailings, prospect and pipeline research. Provide outstanding supporter care to challenge and individual event participants. Work with the Fundraising Manager to plan a programme of third-party challenge events throughout the year. Work collaboratively with the Communications team to ensure an effective marketing and communications plan is in place to help promote the charity’s events To take responsibility for recruiting new and existing supporters into challenge events, fundraising campaigns, specific appeals and volunteering roles. Assist the Fundraising Manager in ensuring that all fundraising literature (including legacies) is kept well stocked across the hospital sites Liaise with staff across the Trust to drive engagement with the Charity, and support fundraising initiatives delivered by specific departments.

Person specification

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential criteria

Educated to degree level or equivalent. Good standard of education at A level standard or equivalent level including English. Evidence of professional and personal development.

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience of working in a fundraising office or volunteering for a charity’s fundraising function Knowledge and understanding of the Fundraising Regulator guidance and the Code of Fundraising Practice. Driven and motivated to meet targets.

Desirable criteria

Knowledge and experience of communications, public engagement, public relations and marketing Knowledge and understanding of working within the NHS, how it is organised and the political environment within which it operates. Understanding of key NHS policies and priorities. Experience of taking part or organising fundraising events. Experience of managing volunteers. Experience of Project management. Experience of working with a fundraising CRM platform is desirable

Special Requirements

Essential criteria

Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. Ability to work flexibly as necessary and have access to transport if required to work of main hospital site
