Job summary

Our team is expanding, and we are seeking two highly motivated and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialists to join the Infection Prevention and Control team to work in conjunction with staff across the UCLH hospitals.

UCLH provides infection control services to all eight of the Trust's sites. Our infection prevention and control team is a large and an active body of multi professional staff consisting of an epidemiologist; a dedicated surveillance team; infection prevention and control nurses; microbiologists; virologists and clinical scientists.

Main duties of the job

You will have a wide range of skills and the ability to think and work across boundaries and already have experience in working within an infection prevention and control team.

You will be responsible for providing infection prevention and control support to a dedicated area of the Trust and in project managing key infection control improvement initiatives. You will be a key member of the team providing a clinically knowledgeable and responsive service. You must be a skilled change agent with excellent interpersonal abilities.

Knowledge & Qualifications

Essential

NMC registration Infection prevention control post graduate qualification and/or experience working in an IPC team for minimum of 2 years Working toward MSc in Infection Prevention and Control or equivalent Mentorship qualification SSSA

Minimum 2 years working as an IPC nurse at Band 6 or above Experience of delivering teaching and presenting information Experience of managing a group of patients with alert organisms Experience of managing outbreaks Experience of investigating infection control incidents Experience of advising and educating patients about infection prevention and control Experience of auditing Experience of mentoring staff Experience of monitoring environmental factors of IPC in the clinical environment Experience of developing standards, guidelines, and policies Possesses an excellent understanding of infection prevention and control issues
