Job summary
The CAMHS Young Peoples Team is a specialist team within CAMHS.
We work with young people who are adopted, looked after, unaccompanied asylum seeking, homeless or involved in youth justice. We have an 18 month fixed term contract available for WTE (30 hours per week).
We are a small team of just over 20 staff including nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, forensic psychologist, mental health practitioners and occupational therapist. We also have assistant psychologists, honorary assistants and many students from different disciplines with us through the year.
We work with young people aged up to 18 years who have a moderate to severe mental illness which is impacting upon functioning across all areas of their life. Our job is to work alongside these young people and their support networks and offer treatment and support in a holistic manner. We also spend a lot of time working with the network which supports the young person.
As we work with young people our work can be delivered in many ways, including therapies such as CBT, EMDR and decider skills. Whilst also using creative methods such as play and art to ensure that the work is engaging and meaningful to our young people.
Risk management and care planning skills are important within our team and being able to monitor and communicate risk is something we do daily. In our team we engage in a lot of training delivery to our local authorities and these are great for new members of our team to join and support.
Main duties of the job
