New Business Commercial Underwriter - Hybrid in Harrogate or Darlington - ARD1012181

We are seeking a skilled Commercial New Business Underwriter to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience in generating new business enquiries in line with binder authority levels and ensuring business is profitable, accurate and in accordance with Geo Underwriting practices. So, what does the role of a New Business Commercial Underwriter here involve?

As a Commercial Underwriter you will work with a panel of brokers in developing and underwriting profitable, target business in line with prescribed underwriting strategies and business plans across a range of Commercial Products including Combined Liability (contracting and non-contracting) and Commercial Combined.

This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. 

Underwrite and administer risks (including new business and midterm adjustments) and issue accurate, compliant documentation on behalf of Insurers. Demonstrate strong trading and negotiation skills in the attainment of new business. Achieve a high quality of underwriting and record keeping, as demonstrated through quality monitoring. Achieve any individual targets and contribute towards team/business targets. Contribute positively and proactively to business development and any relevant change.

What experience does a New Business Commercial Underwriter   need?

Proven underwriting experience of Commercial Products including Commercial Combined and Combined Liability (contracting and non-contracting) and a good understanding of risk. Experience of working within an MGA environment and an understanding of the use of binding authority guidelines and authorities would be advantageous. A working knowledge of legal and regulatory Insurance framework. IT Skills: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point. Experience of Acturis would also be advantageous. Ideally CII qualified or working towards.
