Job overview

We are seeking 2 qualified Mental Health Nurse's with a minimum of one year of post-registration clinical experience in mental health to join our friendly and motivated team. This role involves a degree of autonomous working and provides an opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of older adults with a wide range of mental health difficulties, including:

Anxiety Low mood Bipolar disorder Schizophrenia Dementia Varying levels of frailty

The normal working pattern of this role is Monday to Friday. IT skills and experience with electronic recording systems such as RIO are essential. Flexibility in working hours to meet the demands of the service is also required.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for completing holistic mental health assessments for older adults, including the identification and management of risks to the individual, others, or from others. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to work independently, possess strong time management skills, and effectively prioritize their workload.

You will be an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with other agencies to deliver high-quality, recovery-focused care. As a coordinator for a caseload of service users with complex and challenging needs, your duties will include:

Conducting mental health assessments Developing, implementing, and reviewing care plans Supporting service users in maximizing their recovery opportunities Providing support to the carers of service users

In addition, the post holder will:

Provide clinical supervision to junior colleagues Act as a student Nurse assessor and supervisor Participate in ongoing educational and research programs

Working for our organisation

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff). 

High Cost Area Supplement - London

This post attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).

be responsible for organising and prioritising own and others workload in the day to day allocation of work.

2. To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them, particularly administration of medicine and moving and handling.

3. To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.

4. To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.

5. To work effectively with GPs to ensure early referral and diagnosis.

6. To work jointly and collaboratively with NELFT colleagues in order to enhance and develop services.

7. To ensure communication channels are consistent and understandable and that information provided is relevant and informed.

Skills

Essential criteria

Ability to work autonomously Ability to deliver high quality care and recovery focused health interventions that includes managing risk and the safeguarding of adults at risk. Ability to completed holistic assessment, plan and implement programmes of care with users of service and Carers involvement Ability to travel and carry were relevant work related equipment between sites in an effective and safe manner Ability to facilitate positive multi-disciplinary working relationships across all service areas Ability to communicate effectively at all levels

Ability to make complex decisions under pressure and demonstrate stress and crisis management skills

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience working with adults with mental health issues. Experience of working as part of an MDT Post-registration clinical experience in mental health where a degree of autonomous working has been required Experience of dealing with emotional distress Experience of having difficult conversation

Desirable criteria

Supervising more junior staff Experience working within NHS and with electronic syatems like RIO.
