About the team/division

The London Market Claims team are driven, diverse and ready for anything. We work closely with our underwriters to ensure that there is a clear, open and transparent relationship with our customers and brokers from the very beginning.

We are looking for someone who can be a part of a strong team, maintaining your own portfolio of claims within a financial authority and also working on more complex files. We take advancement and continued learning very seriously at Hiscox, expecting you to always question why and continually look for a better way – whether it’s a process, a claims decision or use of technology.

The Role


This is a 12 month contract covering maternity Leave.

Hiscox LM insurance is diversifying, growing and leading more business each year. This role is within the MES (Marine, Energy and Specialty) division and, depending on their experience, the successful candidate will handle claims generated from mixed marine lines; Cargo, Hull and Marine Liability, and/or Power and Renewable Energy).. We seek a candidate who can work with our underwriters and the rest of the claims team to define our claims service proposition. . What you’ll be doing in the role

Depending on the experience of the successful candidate; handling a portfolio of claims comprising of Cargo, Hull and Marine Liability, and/or Power and Renewable Energy. Participating in claims lifecycle reviews and driving down our static claim volumes and values. Working with our brokers to deliver good outcomes for our Hiscox and our Clients. Working with underwriters and claims colleagues to add value and build our presence internally. Contribute to our internal improvement workstreams to help drive the division forward to become the best claims team in the London Market.

The Candidate

At least 3 years’ experience in the Marine or Energy claims market. Working knowledge of ECF. An ability to use own initiative and confidence in making decisions but also knows when to ask questions. Excellent people skills. Ability to question the norm and seek ‘a better way’ Good mathematical skills and report writing. A confident communicator with demonstrable communication skills both oral and written Someone who can analyse complex issues but is also pragmatic, commercial and solution orientated
