An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our Senior Leadership Team (SLT) at the Welsh Blood Service (WBS), within Velindre University NHS Trust. This role heads up the blood donation services, supporting the Director of WBS in providing strategic and operational leadership, financial and clinical management and ensuring effective oversight of key supply chain functions.

As a trusted healthcare provider, we work tirelessly to maintain the highest standards of quality, safety and donor experience. Our dedicated teams play a pivotal role in ensuring that hospitals throughout Wales always have the blood supplies they need.

You will lead the Blood Donation Services change programmes, under the WBS Futures initiative, that supports the WBS 5-year strategy and will be accountable for:

Whole Blood and platelet apheresis collection teams

Donor Engagement and Recruitment

Planning, Resource and Logistics

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

Educated to Masters Degree level, or equivalent level of work experience, knowledge and skills. Evidence of a recognised management/leadership qualification or equivalent level of experience. Evidence of participation in continual professional development. Business or NHS general management/UK Healthcare environment. Overall knowledge of the Blood Service's role.

Experience

Essential

Extensive operational/staff management at a senior level. Significant budget management experience at a senior level. Experience of working within a regulated healthcare or public sector arena. Significant experience of change management. Significant experience of working in social partnership with trade unions

Ability to demonstrate first-class leadership skills at a senior level. Ability to understand, empathise and respond effectively to staff issues and with trade union involvement.
