Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Denton, Tameside. This full-time position provides a unique opportunity for individuals with a passion for supporting young people to make a real difference in a school setting. The role starts in October and continues until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming a permanent position based on performance.

Role Overview: As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who may be facing challenges with their behaviour, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with students, teachers, and the wider school community to create a positive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work one-on-one and in small groups with students who need additional support to manage their behaviour and engage with their education.
  • Develop and implement personalised behaviour plans that address the specific needs of each student.
  • Provide mentoring and emotional support to students, helping them to develop coping strategies, self-discipline, and resilience.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure that behavioural strategies are consistent across the school and tailored to individual needs.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Act as a positive role model for students, promoting high standards of behaviour and fostering a supportive school culture.
  • Assist in the development of a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment, where all students feel valued and able to succeed.
  • Support the school’s wider behaviour management policies and contribute to staff training and development in behaviour management techniques.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people, particularly those who may exhibit challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with the ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
  • A commitment to helping young people overcome difficulties and achieve their potential.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques, or a willingness to undertake relevant training.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or in education, youth work, or counselling is advantageous but not essential.
