Job description
Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will join ADHD nurse specialists, Mental Health Practitioners and Assistant Psychologists in delivering the ADHD pathway. The successful candidate will develop expertise in assessing and diagnosing children and young people with ADHD and identifying those that can be appropriately managed by the Paediatric ADHD service.
The post holder will offer psychiatric assessments for young people with ADHD who are too complex for the Paediatric ADHD service, either on their own or jointly with another team member or consultant. They will provide psychoeducation & signposting to post-diagnostic services, discuss management options in accordance with NICE guidance and initiate and monitor ADHD medication where appropriate. They will screen for comorbidities and refer on to other relevant CAMHS pathways or community services accordingly.
The successful candidate will be expected to accumulate their own out-patient load from new referrals, help out with known patients in out-patients and pick up ongoing patient management through the team as appropriate. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the bio psychosocial model of care with the other members of the multi-disciplinary team. This includes history taking, mental state examination of all patients and the physical examination of outpatients where appropriate. The treatments may be physical, pharmacological, psychological and social as appropriate. CAMHS team offers various psychological therapies such as CBT, family therapy, IPT and DBT. The post holders will not have any out of hours responsibilities There is an on site Duty Consultant every day of the week to support Person Specification
