Barnsley, United Kingdom Wellspring Academy Trust Full time

Green Meadows Academy, part of the Wellspring Academy Trust, is a generic special school based
on two sites and 4 partnerships – Green Meadows Primary and Green Meadows Secondary are
both based in Guiseley.

Our partnership sites are based in the following schools;
● Rawdon St Peter’s Primary School
● Brudenell Primary School
● Benton Park High School
● Allerton High School

Exciting opportunities are available for people looking for a fresh challenge in an inspiring
learning environment where we provide children aged 5-19 with specialist teaching and learning.

The posts will suit candidates who have the commitment, passion and resilience to make a
difference to pupils who have a range of social, emotional, mental health and special educational needs.

Our unique position as a generic special school means we are able to have a long-term and
lasting impact on the children in our care. We are a positive regard school, and staff use this
expert knowledge in their daily work. This approach works hand in hand with a nurturing
curriculum to give our students secure foundations rooted in developing communication and
independence skills . Working at Green Meadows offers challenge and reward in equal measures as we work together to support pupils to make excellent academic and personal progress so they can achieve their goals and aspirations.

The Post
The post of Pastoral Team Leader is a key post in leading and coordinating behaviour, attendance and safeguarding systems on site. You would be working closely with pupils, parents, staff and outside agencies on a daily basis and will need to be able to form excellent, trusting relationships with our pupils and their families. In addition, you will form a key part of the school’s senior leadership team, and will have whole school leadership responsibilities. As well as the day to day leadership of pastoral wellbeing, the role involves supporting student behaviour, and modelling expert practice for the staff team, plus regular delivery of training around understanding behaviour and need, including zones of regulation, restorative culture and trauma awareness. Unconditional Positive Regard is at the centre of everything we do and the successful candidate must have the personal qualities and resilience to work in, and lead others in, this ethos.

You will lead on key aspects of school operation and will lead strategic threads running through the development plan. The postholder will line manage other staff, including Pastoral Team members and Teaching Assistants. Applicants should be passionate about developing their own leadership skills, as this is a high profile, senior role. There will be regular, high quality training opportunities for you to develop your own expertise, and to cascade this learning through the school, the Trust, and beyond. This is a once in a career opportunity.

About Us
Our aim is to provide the best possible care and education that we can for children and young people with special educational needs. Unconditional Positive Regard is at the centre of what we do and we are creating an academy that is welcoming, caring, safe, warm and believes that all its pupils can be supported and empowered to succeed. We take pride in creating individual and personalised pathways for our students that are built around their varied needs, which will help them achieve positive outcomes and prepare them for adulthood.

We see strong relationships as the key to our success – with students, parents, carers and the wider community and we ensure that our academy is a welcoming safe place for children, and staff, to learn and prosper. We believe in working closely with our families and carers and welcome their support, but also realise that at times they will need our support too. We work closely with other agencies and schools to make sure we do all we can to make learning and life the best it possibly can be.

Here at Green Meadows, we place a huge emphasis on professional development and choose to invest significantly in staff training at all levels. This means that, although experience of working in an SEND setting would be an advantage, specialist support and training will be provided for outstanding teachers wishing to make the career fulfilling move into special education.
