Job overview

We are delighted to be recruiting Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP trainees) post. The posts will be based in the Huntingdon Older People’s Mental Health service’s Stepped Care Therapy (SCT) team.

This is an exciting new psychology profession that has been approved as a Degree Apprenticeship. During your training phase of around months you will be undertaking the CAP Masters Programme with the University of East Anglia (UEA) while working to develop the clinical skills and competencies essential to the role.

As an apprentice you will be working and being paid full time and the full fees of the course will be paid. The post will be band for the -month duration of the course and will move to a band upon successful completion.

Start date with UEA September

Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county meeting strict time deadlines. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have use of a vehicle. You cannot use public transport for this role as this is not a reliable form of transport and will not allow you to meet service needs. Main duties of the job

The SCT team work with older people who are experiencing the symptoms of moderate to severe functional and organic mental health difficulties. The service is part of a well-established and friendly multi-disciplinary team with a wide range of professionals contributing to the excellent care of the people that we support.

You will work as part of a team of psychologists, occupational therapists, trainee psychologists and psychological therapists working in the locality teams across Huntingdonshire. You will also work with a wider MDT with other parts of the OPMH services. The team place an emphasis on providing formulation-driven, evidence-based interventions. As part of your role you will be involved in team formulation, consultancy and training.

Clinically you will manage a specialised caseload consisting of severe and complex psychological disorders. You will have opportunities to deliver individual interventions and group programmes with support and supervision from applied psychologists.
