Job summary

Wehave state of the art hospitals at Pontefract and Wakefield and are upgradingthe existing Dewsbury Hospital to the same standard. Maternity services are deliveredat all three Trust sites. We have antenatal clinics and Midwife Led Birthcentres on all three sites and a dedicated Consultant led labour ward atPinderfields providing 98 hour resident cover per week. Our labour ward isdirectly linked to our neonatal unit where we have an excellent workingrelationship with our neonatal team.Within Gynaecology services we have a dedicated Gynaecology assessmentunit on the Pinderfields site and offer a wide range of comprehensive services to ourpatients including:

Beinga well-respected Endometriosis Centre.

Adedicated Gynaecology Acute Assessment Unit at Pinderfields to help improve ourpatients experience.

Outpatientclinics for colposcopy, hysteroscopy including see and treat, minor procedures,PMB clinics, Uro-gynaecology

Gynaecologyoncology unit which works via efficient MDT with Leeds as the hub and avisiting gynaecology oncology consultant from Leeds.

Electivesurgery and clinics on all sites so patients receive care closer to home.

Electiveobstetric suite at Pinderfields.

Abereavement suite for mothers who have suffered a still birth or latemiscarriage.

The main duties of the postwill include

Administrativeduties, for which appropriate office space and secretarial support is providedat Dewsbury Hospital

Hot Week cover for Obstetrics and Gynaecology consultant PAs

Monday to Friday 08:00 18:00 hrs (relieved of all otheractivities during this period). The hotweek consultant will undertake ALL ward rounds.

On-call duties for Obstetrics and Gynaecology only shared with 13colleagues on an approximately 1:10 basis and currently assessed as PAs(resident from 17:30 hours until 23:00 hours during weekdays Monday to Fridayand 08:00 to hours during weekends Saturday and Sunday, outside thesehours the on call will be non-resident)

-typically non-patient-facing duties on a post-on call day.

SupportingProfessional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework, with at least a minimum of SPAsincluded in the core 10PA timetable. SPA Wednesday PM and flexiblethroughout the week. Additional SPA orDCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successfulcandidate and changing requirements of the service.

Job responsibilities

This post is offered on a fulltime (10 PA) basis although less than full time applications will beconsidered.

MYTT has a well established service for managementof complex gynaecological surgery. We are the biggest BSGE regional centre forendometriosis in Yorkshire. We offer tertiary level sub-spec urogynaecolgysurgery service. We work in collaboration with Leeds Teaching Hospitals forgynaecology cancer cases. We are supported by a multidisciplinary team ofsurgeons, urologists and radiologists.

ATSM Advanced Labour Ward practice ATSM in any Gynaecological discipline to complement the department will be considered. Fully accredited by college and acceptable to college representative. Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Service Appropriate experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology To share with colleagues responsibility for the day to day management of the Service. Teaching and training of junior staff, medical students To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit. To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
