Job summary

Constable Country Medical Practice are looking to welcome an experienced and qualified phlebotomist/health care assistant into our busy practice, on a part time basis for up to 30 hours per week, to support our nursing team at both our East Bergholt & Capel St Mary Surgeries.

Main duties of the job

Working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols toassist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care; Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording and efficient dispatching of samples; Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible, and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample; Checking patient identification against GP or nurse request, and confirming with the patient whenever possible; Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff; Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues; Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.

Experience

Essential

Relevant qualification and clinical knowledge and skills. Experience of working in a healthcare setting, ideally within primary care. Ability to record accurate clinical notes. Consistently confidential, compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues. Ability to communicate effectively, and to understand the needs of the patient. Strength in problem-solving, with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required. Flexibility and an adaptable approach. Commitment to ongoing professional development.
