Job summary

We have an exciting new role and opportunity to shape the rapidly changing Rapid Response service working very closely with the Emergency services.

KMPT has recently introduced a Rapid Response service countywide to offer face-to-face assessment to people suffering a mental health crisis to reach 95% of people referred within 4 HRS. As part of an expansion to incorporate a Blue Light Enhanced service, partners in the ambulance service will be able to access a see-and-treat response from the Rapid Response responding as soon as possible.

Recruiting for 3 posts in West, North and East Kent

Main duties of the job

Using specialist Mental Health knowledge and skills to carry out comprehensive Biopsychosocial assessments in a timely manner to service users suffering with a mental health crisis.

Be responsible for ensuring the team achieve performance targets such as response times for 1hr and 4hr face to face assessments.

Facilitate the development and use of care pathways by the multidisciplinary team(MDT)

Be part of the senior team working collaboratively with the Home treatment team and Liaison Psychiatry service.

Communicate effectively with other members of the team and also external partners. Hold regular interface meetings with SECAM, Police, Urgent Metal Health Crisis Line ,Liaison Psychiatry, Home treatment team and Community Mental Health teams.

Ensure that information of a sensitive and contentious content is handled with professionalism and communicated appropriately to clearly identified persons

Respond to emergency situation s in a clear and supportive manner showing sensitivity and direction at all times

Feed into the supervision process when necessary to highlight areas of poor practice and support staff to improve areas of concerns

Provide effective management supervision to the other members of the team

Participate in the management and investigation of complaints

Working closely with the Home Treatment Operational manager to ensure the Rapid Response team is covered.

Essential

Management or leadership course. Evidence of post registration education at degree level or equivalent. Professional qualification and current registration - RMN/OT Evidence of CPD

Previous experience in Senior Nursing role Current experience of clinical nursing practice in a relevant care setting. Demonstrable experience of managing change within a clinical environment. Experience of leading a clinical team.

Essential

Well-developed verbal and written communication skills including presentations & publications Experience of developing policies and procedures.
