DescriptionWellbeing Worker£22,126 pa FT, £14,950 pa actualHours: 25 hours per week (5 hours per day, Monday-Friday)Permanent role, covering Aylesbury & High Wycombe Buckinghamshire Mind are seeking Wellbeing Worker to lead their wellbeing groups in both Aylesbury and High Wycombe.  Our wellbeing groups provide a safe space for adults experiencing mental health challenges to spend time with others and to develop better wellbeing.  Our activities are based around the Five Ways to Wellbeing: connect, be active, take notice, keep learning and give.  Your role (as part of a team) will be to engage with people and encourage them to participate in activities such as art, crafting, cooking, interactive games and group discussion. You’ll work with group members to help them assess their wellbeing journey between joining and moving on. If you have some experience of mental health and supporting people, a genuine interest in wellbeing and better mental health, and you’ll enjoy creating a varied and interesting timetable of activities, this could be the role for you. Who we are.Buckinghamshire Mind works to support and represent people with mental health illnesses living across the county. Key ResponsibilitiesBackgroundOur wellbeing groups provide activities based around the Five Ways to Wellbeing: connect, be active, take notice, keep learning and give. We aim to support wellbeing and mood through activities such as art, crafting, cooking, interactive games and group discussion. When possible, groups may go on outings and day trips to enjoy activities such as walking or bowling. Wellbeing groups are held in Aylesbury, High Wycombe, Chesham and Chalfont St Peter, but are open to anyone aged 18+ living in Bucks who is experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties. Purpose of roleTo work as part of a team to facilitate a caring and motivating service which enables attendees with severe mental illness to achieve their wellness goals and aspirations through recovery focused interventions and person-centred support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and facilitate activities and opportunities with a focus on wellbeing and recovery in line with the needs of service users.
  • Engage warmly with a range of different individuals with varying needs and support individuals to engage with activities being provided.
  • Play an active role in helping service users join in/participate with the group in a person-centred way.
  • Be responsible for the timely completion of online registers, support plans, risk assessments and all related administration across various digital systems/databases such as Views/CRM.
  • Actively engage with professionals, other services, carers, and wider networks in supporting the recovery of the service user.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge concerning Bucks Mind services and local community organisations/activities/support in order to provide relevant signposting for service users when required.
  • Keep all services users informed of appropriate additional Bucks Mind services, including volunteering opportunities, which can be accessed to support recovery and wellbeing.
  • Maintain excellent communication with colleagues, including direct team, line manager and operations manager whether in person or via digital means, such as responding to emails in a timely and professional manner.

Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseEssential:
  • Has experience and understanding of the issues affecting adults who have severe mental illness.
  • Can motivate, encourage and work individually with people to identify potential and support recovery.
  • Has knowledge of social and situational factors influencing adults’ mental health, recovery, and wellbeing.
  • Understands, and has sensitivity to the needs of people living with mental and emotional problems.
  • Has excellent communication skills, especially with adults who experience/have experienced mental health illness.
  • Can respond appropriately to people in distress and maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • Understands equality and diversity principles.
  • Is committed to working in an anti-oppressive way and striving to create equal opportunities for all people.
  • English and Mathematics to GCSE level.
  • Good level of IT skills including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Excellent  communication and interpersonal skills especially with people who experience/have experienced mental health issues.
  • Able to network and build sustainable working partnerships with volunteers, staff, and other agencies.
  • Experience using a CRM database system.
  • To always represent the organisation in a professional and appropriate manner.
  • Supports the aims and work of Buckinghamshire Mind.
