We have a unique opportunity for an organised administration professional to support our outstations, predominantly based in our farms in Northumberland with occasional work in the marine outstations at the coastal sites and our city campus in Newcastle. The Dove Marine Laboratory holds a significant role in the UK's maritime heritage. Located on Cullercoats Bay, the Lab is home to research-active academics, students and post-doctoral researchers. Research interests range from deep-sea food webs and marine mammal biology to ballast water treatments and marine biotechnology. Our Marine Station in Blyth Marina is home to The Princess Royal a student and staff designed catamaran which has established itself as the ideal platform for all types of research and commercial ventures requiring a small vessel due to its stability, large deck area and manoeuvrability.

The role

Based at NU Farms you will look after our front of house operations, providing administrative support to a wide range of internal and external customers. This role is super varied, and you will mainly:

Deal with day to day enquiries. Support with finance and purchasing processes. Co-ordinate events and engage with our visitors. Help support groups and meetings. Day to day liaison with our Estates teams over the buildings and facilities. Update information on our webpages and social media accounts.

Your work will mainly be at our NUFarms sites in Northumberland, you will need to use your own vehicle and expenses will be paid for your travel between sites.

Supported by the Outstations Manager, who will visit you regularly, you will also have the support of a mentor in our Newcastle campus who will make sure you are part of the wider operations teams. Training and development opportunities will be available for you on our city campus. You will also support two assistants, one who is based in Cullercoats Dove Marine Lab and one who covers the NU Farms sites.

We are keen to hear from candidates who are organised with experience in dealing with varied administration processes. Being able to engage positively with our stakeholders will be your key to success in this role and we are particularly interested in people who can demonstrate this.
