Job summary
The post-holder will carry out a complex scientific and clinical role. The main area of work will be in the Paediatric Audiology Service with responsibility for diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes. There will also be scope for work and professional development in the balance assessment clinic with adults and children for applicants with an interest in this area. Training, development, and support will be provided for a suitable candidate if required.
The post-holder will be required to undertake diagnostic auditory electrophysiological assessment for neonates referred from our New-born Hearing Screening Programme (NHSP) and understand national and regional / local guidelines relating to this. There will be in-house support, training, and time-out with funding for completion of formal approved external training courses in auditory electrophysiological new-born assessment and breaking / sharing new for an appropriate candidate where needed. Peer review and CPD is required, and continual reflective practice is encouraged.
There is line managerial responsibility for more junior members of the department. Cooperation with the national Paediatric Audiology Quality Improvement Programme and working towards IQIPS accreditation is expected.
Main duties of the job
o Perform, interpret, and report on paediatric diagnostic audiology tests using test techniques appropriate to the developmental age and ability of the individual and compliant with national Fit hearing instruments and other assistive listening technology as appropriate for the Apply and develop evidence-based practice and reference to relevant clinical Explanation of potentially emotive results to parents and Communication with parents, professionals, and agencies working with the child with parental consent. o Communication methods should be adapted to ensure the parent / carer and patient have optimal Provide specialist input to patients across the range of care pathways and health care Provide appropriate clinical and scientific advice and interpretation of analytical Participate in regional, departmental, and multidisciplinary meetings.
