Job summary

Are you keen to work within Bleeding Disorders/Haemophilia as a physiotherapist? Do you have significant acute NHS experience in bleeding disorders and MSK?

If so, you will be interested in the exciting role of Senior Physiotherapist (Team Leader) Bleeding Disorders within out MSK department.

Within this friendly and supportive team, applicants will be able to experience management of patients in an acute NHS setting. This role will work within the MSK department and Haemophilia Unit, working closely with Consultants and Clinical Nurse Specialists in MDT and standalone clinics. The post will manage acute attendances where MSK issues are expected as well as longer term rehabilitation and in reach with expert advice to the wards as appropriate.

Our service has a strong focus on staff development and training, with a regular comprehensive in-service training and close support from our highly experienced team of Clinical Specialists and Consultants within MSK. Development opportunities exist to further enhance your skills within this area. The Bleeding Disorders service is currently writing a business case for further expansion to enlarge the whole MDT service.

Our department has a strong focus on staff wellbeing. With CPD opportunities and flexible working options. We expect all staff to uphold the trust values of kind, connected and bold.

The role is a full-time position, but part time hours will be considered.

Main duties of the job

To deliver advanced physiotherapy assessment, advice, and treatment of patients with Bleeding Disorders, to act as a source of expertise to fellow clinicians, Trust Managers, Healthcare Professionals and other services internal and external to the Trust as required.

To use evidence-based skills to manage a complex caseload of acute and chronic MSK conditions with Bleeding Disorders and work within various consultant led clinics.

To work independently and as part of the MDT.

To be an expert source of advice to other clinicians regarding treatment of Patients with Bleeding Disorders.

To work with managers and consultants to develop the future of the service.

To manage, supervise and appraise junior staff and students.

To lead in the training and service development of clinical practice. To undertake clinical audits and evaluation of evidence-based practice initiating/participating in research within specialist area.

The candidate will be expected to be support our weekend trauma rota.

The candidate should have evidence of leadership qualifications and skills suitable to the job role.

*Significant post registration experience of which considerable experience has been in a Bleeding Disorder specialty in an acute NHS organisation with significant experience of treating bleeding disorder patients for MSK concerns. To include experience of treating acute and chronic patients. *Experience of staff management including supervision and of development and performance management of staff. *Significant experience in education and clinical training of others. *Some experience of clinical/service evaluation *Proficient knowledge and skill in the specialist assessment and treatment of a wide range of complex acute and chronic clinical presentations relating to the musculoskeletal patient. *Excellent knowledge of anatomy and physiology. *Awareness of current evidence in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and Bleeding Disorders and its application to clinical practice, using advanced clinical reasoning skills. *Good understanding of IT systems and its application to clinical practice.

*Good knowledge and application of all areas of Clinical Governance including Quality, Audit and Risk management *Understands the legal responsibilities of the profession *Good understanding of principles of data and statistics and experience of their use in evaluation of service delivery *Knowledge and understanding of the research process. *Teaching experience to uni and multi-professional groups with evidence of ability to deliver high quality presentations
